"So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." - Matthew 17:20 (NKJV)

It is possible for belief (faith) and unbelief (fear) to coexist in us. We can have faith or belief in our hearts and fear or unbelief in our minds. Our prayers are not being answered because of a lack of faith but the presence of fear or unbelief.
There was a time when the disciples could not perform miracles and a time when they could. The difference was their faith. Unbelief is not the absence of faith. It is the opposite of faith meaning it can exist alongside faith.
When you have unbelief, you doubt. You withdraw, second guess and begin to lose your faith. There is a war going on inside of us - a war between faith and fear. The winner depends on what you choose to focus on. Whatever you focus on, you attract.
Many people focus on their problems rather than the promises of God. They speak faithfully but think fearfully. They pray faithfully but act fearful. They allow the reality of life to get the better of their faith. They stagger, doubt and waver. At that point, they are the only ones who can save themselves. As they stagger, they feed their unbelief. They allow fear, worry and anxiety to feed their unbelief.
To overcome unbelief, you must give your problems no thoughts and must fast and pray to strengthen your faith.
Unbelief is of the world but belief is of God's word.
