Pointers to Divine Elevation

By Pastor Drew Ugbogbo

"When the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot to hurry, saying, “Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city.” - Genesis 19: 15

Bible Readings: 1 Samuel 16: 18, John 10: 10, Jonah 1, Genesis 13:5-9

Your association is crucial for your elevation. Avoid relationships that will make you stray away from God's plan for your life. For God to elevate you, disconnect yourself from wrong associations.

Spend more time in God's house, fellow shipping with believers. Serve God in his kingdom and vineyard. These are the pointers to divine elevation.

When you are kingdom minded, God will break every protocol for your sake. Being kingdom minded puts you in God's limelight. You will enjoy an overflow of His anointing. God will establish and elevate you.

Principles of Elevation: Thinking

By Pastor Andrew Bawa

"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you." - Proverbs 23: 7

Bible Readings: Philippians 4:8, Proverbs 4:8; 15: 18, Ecclesiastes 10: 15, Jeremiah 29:11, 2 Corinthians 10: 4-5, Daniel 2:17, Joshua 1:8, 1 John 4: 18, Romans 12:11

What we think determines who we are and who we are determines what we do. Our actions are a product of our thoughts. Our thoughts determines our destiny and our destiny determines our legacy. You are today where your thoughts have brought you and you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.

People who go to the top think differently from others. Nothing limits achievement like small thinking and nothing expands possibilities like enhanced thinking. People who think, don't sink. Thinking is synonymous to elevation. Only people who see themselves going far, think far. Thinking influences your behavior and your response to situations.

You should dedicated time to thinking well about yourself and your vision. If God knows the thoughts he has for you, what thoughts do you have towards yourself?

Some people think they are thinking but they are actually worrying. The different is thinking is productive, worrying is not. You need to think to be productive.

When you think, ask yourself 'why' and ponder on things that are edifying. Those who know 'how' will have a job but those who know 'why' are be the bosses. Anyone that can think deeply can see a rock and see possibilities. If you can think, you can see. Thinkers solve problems, they never lack ideas and are successful.

To think productively, allow God's word to illuminate your mind, speak in tongues, keep your mind engaged and fixed on things that are edifying, associate with positive and productive thinkers, think positively, creatively and progressively and let your thoughts be guided by the Holy Spirit

Fear, anger, negative environments, depression, idleness, laziness and slothfulness are enemies of productive thinking. Don't let these vices influence your thought pattern. Instead think strategically, writing down ideas, asking quality questions, research and marinate on your thoughts.

Principles of Elevation: Working

By Pastor Andrew Bawa

"The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them." Deuteronomy 28: 12-13 (NKJV).

Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 26: 18-19, Deuteronomy 28: 3-12, Proverbs 22: 29, Proverbs 10: 4, Proverbs 6: 6-11, Psalms 1: 1-3, John 5: 17, 2 Thessalonians 3: 10, John 9: 4, Galatians 6: 9.

Life is just like a university. However, in this university, examinations occurs on a daily basis and you cannot go on to the next level unless you pass your examinations. No one warns you before these examinations, you must be ready at any time.

Those who overcome the trials and challenges of this world through Christ will make it to heaven; and this is totally up to you. You must follow certain principles for you to pass the examinations, in this life. To be elevated, you must be principled.

There are seven principles of elevation. They include working, giving, thinking, trusting, waiting, talking and thanksgiving. These are principles that you must follow to be elevated.

Working is very important. You must work if you do not want to be poor. Poverty is an act of becoming. Nobody is born poor but they become poor depending on how they live their life.

Don't just work hard, work smartly. Hard work incubated by smart work and the Holy Ghost is what gets you elevated. God prospers the doers not the sitters. Remember that anything that you did not get by hard work will eventually disappear. Stop wishing and start working.

There are three levels of working: hardworking, tireless working and creative working. A combination of these three gets you where God wants you to be. God wants you to succeed and be elevated. Work hard, tirelessly and creatively at it.

An Excellent Spirit

By Pastor Andrew Bawa

"Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him. Then these men said, “We shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.”" - Daniel 6:3-5

Bible Readings: Daniel 1:8; 5: 10; 12:3, Titus 2: 11-12, 1 Corinthians 10

The word "then" means something follows what has been said or established. Regardless of what had happened to Daniel previously, in our key text, he was separated for elevation. God is thinking about you - his thoughts are to elevate you.

When God distinguishes you, it overrides whatever had happened before. But before you get preferred, you must propose in your heart not to defile yourself. Daniel had an excellent spirit - and that prepared him for his elevation.

An excellent spirit is an attitude. Your attitude is crucial in determining how far you go in life. There is a spirit behind your attitude. An excellent spirit is full of integrity, has character and functions with the mind of Christ.

Let your heart yearn for God's word. Let your mind be fixed on it. Let it be your guide. Stand for righteousness and in the right standing with God. Only then will you be distinguished by God.

Elevation by Sacrificial Living

By Pastor Andrew Bawa

"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." - Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

Bible Readings:  Ezra 8: 21-23, Esther 4: 16-17;  5: 1, Matthew 6: 16; 17: 21, Isaiah 58: 6-14, Psalm 102: 13-15, Hebrew 4: 16.

To be elevated, you have live a life of sacrifice. A sacrificial lifestyle involves fasting. The length of your fasting is as important as the actual act or process of fasting. Fasting helps you grow spiritually and physically.

Fasting is a challenge to many because they are not desperate enough. If you are not willing to take measure of your destiny, nobody will. Desperate situations require desperate measures. You have to pay the price to to be elevated. You can either pay now and play later or play now and pay later with interest.

If you want to go higher, you must be willing to fast. If you want to go faster, you must be willing to fast. To go higher, you must travel light. Fasting helps you shed some unnecessary emotional, physical and psychological weight.

Fasting takes away unbelief, strengthens your faith, amplifies your voice, gives you dominion in the spirit realm over forces of darkness, creates room in your life for God, gives you faster access to God's throne room, prepares you for the unprecedented and unexpected, gives your prayers speedy response and nullifies oppositions to unanswered prayers.

When you fast, make sure you pray boldly and faithfully, stay focused on why you are fasting, study the word of God, meditate, avoid distraction, enter God's presence with thanksgiving and pray for the advancement of God's kingdom.

Making a case for a Fresh Anointing

By Reverend George Adegboye

"Good and upright is the Lord; therefore He teaches sinners in the way. The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, to such as keep His covenant and His testimonies. For Your name’s sake, O Lord, pardon my iniquity, for it is great. Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses. He himself shall dwell in prosperity, and his descendants shall inherit the earth. The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant. My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He shall pluck my feet out of the net." - Psalms 25:8-15

Bible Readings: Isaiah 2:3, 2 Corinthians 4:18, Psalm 82:5-6, Genesis 2:8, 1 John 2:20, 1 John 2:27, 1 Corinthians 5:21, Psalm 132:7, Psalm 105: 14-15, John 4: 13-14; 14:12; 17:18, Acts 1:8; 10:38, Reverend 5:5-6, 1 Peter 2:9, Psalm 144:2-3, 1 Kings 19, Ephesians 5:30, Psalm 133:1-3, Joel 2:28, Philippians 4:19, James 1:25, Ecclesiastes 9:8, Titus 3:5, Isaiah 41:1, Romans 6:4; 8:11, Revelation 21:5

The word of God tells us the truth about GOD and ourselves. Many Christians don't know who they are. That isn't God's plan for us. He wants to reveal the truth to us. He wants us to know the truth about others, the devil and our situations.

He wants to enlighten us on various topics such as tithes, decision making and anointing. The ignorant man suffers so it is important to know the truth. This is what God's word offers us. The truth in His word gives us the knowledge to be anointed.

Whether you speak in tongues or not, as a christian, you are anointed. Being anointed is part of God's plan for his people. His word says we are anointed. We can't follow in Christ's footstep unless we are anointed.

Anointing means to pour out, upon and over in a copious manner.  It is an outpouring of the spirit. It renews your spirit-man. It preserves and maintains your spiritual life, accelerates growth in several areas of your life, facilitates better fellowships with God and other believers, strengthens you in your service to God, and gives you a fresh experience.

Only you can make that decision to partake in God's fresh anointing. You must be thirsty for it, focus on God and willingly submit to Him.

The Final Word

By Reverend George Adegboye

"Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: ‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’ Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.”" - Numbers 6:22-27

Bible Readings: Isaiah 33:24, 2 Timothy 1:7, 2 Corinthians 15:58, I Corinthians 2:16, Romans 12:2, 1 Peter 1:3, Philippians 4:8, Jeremiah 4:14, Isaiah 59:7, Psalms 94:11, Isaiah 55:8-9, Psalms 65:2, 1 Peter 3:12, Jeremiah 33:3, 1 Corinthians 4:7, Hebrews 5:4, Psalms 1:1, Psalms 138:1, Genesis 17:20, Proverbs 4:5, Psalms 47:6-7, Proverbs 10:6, 1 Thessalonians 5:15, Psalms 102:12, Psalms 35:27, Psalms 46:1, 2 Chronicles 25:8, Proverbs 22:7, Deuteronomy 15:6;18, Psalms 4:1, Genesis 1; 5:2; 9:1; 12:2; 25:11; 26:1-14; 27:4, Matthew 6:8, Jeremiah 21:33, John 10:10, Joel 2:22, Psalms 103:5, Isaiah 43:21, Psalms 74:9, Proverbs 13:32, Psalms 22:30, Jeremiah 1:4-5, Jeremiah 29:11, Psalms 139:17, Psalms 81:10, Zechariah 8:13, Ezekiel 34:36, Titus 3:5, Ephesians 1:3, Mark 10:16, Leviticus 25:31, Judges 13:24, Isaiah 8:16, Psalms 2:8, Matthew 7:7, 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, Psalms 119:1, James 4:17, 2 Corinthians 8:12, Proverbs 10:6, Isaiah 55:1, James 1:20, Psalms 122:1, Hebrews 7:7, Numbers 23:20, Matthew 5:18, Luke 16:17, Genesis 47:7-10; 49:28, Romans 9:38, Psalms 102:2, Psalms 69:17

The secret of prayers is to pray in secret! Pray with a strong belief in God. Receive and believe in God's word. He can only perform what you believe.

As a believer, there are seven important areas of our life - your spiritual life (ministry, calling and service to God), physical life (health and fitness), emotional life (emotional tendencies such as fear, jealousy, anger, hatred), relationships (the condition or state of being connected, related to or being involved with someone else other than yourself), mental life, financial life (note: money is a good messenger but a bad master) and your career.

These seven areas of your life are very important and define your existence. As believers, we must flourish in these areas. We should seek God's blessings and Final Word in these areas

To be blessed, you must bless others. To be blessed means having more of God and less of yourself, enjoying supreme happiness, enjoying the warmth of God's good pleasure, being empowered to prosper and being connected to God's limitless source,
Being blessed means you are a walking evidence of the work of God. He wants to bless you. He wants to show you his goodness, kindness, love and appreciation. He wants to you to get the attention of the unsaved world. He wants your life to lay a good foundation for generations to come.

God blesses you when you associate with people who are blessed or conduct yourself properly before him or when you simply ask. There are some blessings that won't come till you ask God. God's blessings distinguishes you, accelerate your destiny and bring favorable outcomes.

Do all you can to get all you can.
Do all you can to save what you can.
Do all you can to invest what you can.
Do all you can to give to the right place.

Living by Design/The Ultimate Lifestyle

The Word of God can be studied in seven different ways:

    ⁃    Word Study
    ⁃    Verse Study
    ⁃    Paragraph Study
    ⁃    Book Study
    ⁃    Chapter Study
⁃    Topical study: Focuses on specific topics in the Bible such as Tithe, first fruit, deliverance, etc.
⁃    Biographical study: Focuses on specific personalities in the Bible such as Joshua, Cain, etc.

Many people don't know how to live. Existence is not living, living is the quality of existence. There is a certain way God has designed for us to live.

Jesus' life is a window to how God wants us to live. He came to the earth show us the kind of life He wants us to live. God wants us to live the kind of life that will attract His blessings. Our state of being is what attracts the blessings of God.

How are you living your life? If you keep living the wrong way, you will keep getting the wrong results. For a change of result, live differently. You should live the way Jesus lived. Your faith should be a way of life not a religion.

  • By the the word of God: Let God's Word be the manual of your life.
  • By seeking God continually: God's personality attracts the best of the best. You must be living life the best way He wants you to attract his blessings.  The life you live must be the life God wants.

Are you living life to the fullest? The country you are live in doesn't determine the quality of your life. The extent to which you know God and your connection to heaven determines the quality of your life.

Remember that you cannot allow the forces of the world dictate how you live your life. When you live the way you ought to, you live a healthy life. Raise the standard of your living from your idea to God's idea.

You must live a life without:

  • Condemnation: Let your faith in your salvation work for you. Christ died for you and has saved you. You are not condemned.
  • Domination: You have been set free. The word of God has set you free, do not let ignorance enslave you. As a child of God, there is no power, force, principality, or situation that has control over your life.
  • Desperation: Don't live hopelessly. It is not over until it is over and it is not over yet. When you give up, you are saying there is no God.  Don't ever give up. When your energy as a man finishes, that's when God steps in. You have not heard the last about of your situation until God speaks over it.
  • Miscalculation: God never makes a mistake. He takes the mistakes you make and fits them into His plan for us.  Anything God allows in your life will eventually work out for your good. Even when you make mistakes, tell God to turn it around. Don't let one mistake make you feel like you are done for. Don't live a life of despair.
  • Intimidation: There is no reason to fear because God is always on your side. Don't live a life of fear. Live boldly.
  • Limitation: You determine how far you will go. Don't limit yourself by making small plans or aspirations. When you see how big God is, you will realize that limiting him is a sin. As you desire, God builds. Live without limitation
  • Separation:  Don't let anything separate you from God. God does not just order our steps but also our stops; that means you must build a close relationship with Him such He is in complete control of your life.

God loves you. He wants you to live the life he has designed for you. He wants you to be elevated.

Elevation: Focus

By Pastor Andrew Bawa

“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world." - Deuteronomy 28:1

Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 2:8, 3 John 1:2, Jeremiah 29:11, Proverbs 22:29, 2 Peter 1, Hebrew 6:11, James 1:17, Mark 4:23

Starting a task isn't as important as actually finishing it. Even if you face challenges on the way, you must muster the strength and courage to keep going. Like John Maxwell said, "even when you fail, you should fail forward"

God's plan for you is not to be beneath but to be above only. As a child of God, you should always experience elevation. That is God's purpose for you: to exceed expectations and finish the work for which he created you.

Nevertheless, you must commit yourself to three specific requirements from God. You must be diligent, focused and obedient to God.

Diligence: To get to the top, you must be very diligent with your tasks. When you find your purpose and calling, pursue it persistently and patiently.

Focus: The key to your elevation is more than working hard, you must remain focused.  When you are focused; you will not be easily distracted, discouraged or delayed.

Obedience: There is a blessing in being obedient. Being blessed means you are elevated and taken to a higher level. God cherishes those who obey him swiftly.

Remember it is not the color but the content of the balloon that determines how high it goes. Your content determines the extent of your elevation. What you do and how you do it determines your elevation.
